INGREDIENTS:
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 1/2 pounds sirloin steak tips, cut into chunks
- 1/4 ounce dried porcini mushrooms, rinsed
- 1 3/4 cup beef broth
- salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 pound (16 oz) white mushrooms, stems trimmed and sliced.
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 teaspoons flour
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 1 tablespoon parsley
DIRECTIONS:
- Combine soy sauce and sugar with the steak. Toss well. Marinate for 30 minutes.
- Cover porcini mushrooms with 1/4 cup borth in a small microwave bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and poke holes in the top. Microwave for 30 seconds. Let stand in bowl for 5 minutes. Lift mushrooms out of liquid and mince and then set aside. Set aside liquid as well.
- Sprinkle meat with 1/2 teaspoon of pepper. Add 1 tablespoon of oil to a pan and heat on medium high. Add steak and brown for 7 to 8 minutes. Remove steak but leave the juice.
- Add last tablespoon of oil white mushrooms, minced porcini, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Cook for 7 to 9 minutes.
- Add onion and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Cook for 6 minutes. Add flour, garlic, and thyme and cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in remaining beef broth and porcini soaking liquid and bring to a boil.
- Add the steak and parsley and cook for 5 minutes.
- Serve with noodles.
