Recipe #30 Chicken Paprikash

I have never had or made chicken paprikash before. I thought it would be spicy but it actually wasn't that bad! My boyfriend, Jon helped with this dish and it turned out great! The only thing I would change is instead of 1/2 teaspoon of salt I would change it to 1 teaspoon... or you can have people add their own for their taste buds!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup sour cream

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Fill a large pot with water. Mix 3 eggs, 2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup water, and flour.
  2. Form into 1 inch balls and drop into the boiling water. Cook for 10 minutes or until they float.
  3. Drain dumplings in a colander and rinse with warm water. Set aside.
  4. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add chicken. Lightly brown, turning only once.
  5. Add onion and cook 5 to 8 minutes. Pour 1 1/2 cup water, paprika, salt and pepper. Cook for 10 minutes.
  6. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set on a plate. Mix 2 tablespoons of flour with 1 cup of sour cream. Slowly pour into mixture and bring to a boil. Once it reaches a boil for about 1 minute. Remove from heat and add dumplings. Add chicken and serve.

BON APPETIT!
